Alucard is the son of Dracula. Due to his human mother, Lisa, Alucard is a dhampir - a half-human, half-vampire. His mother's death and admonition not to hate humanity caused him to take up arms against his father. In Dracula's Curse and Castlevania Legends, he fights against his father alongside the vampire hunters of the Belmont clan, and he is featured as the protagonist of Symphony of the Night. Alucard additionally is present in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and follow-up sequel Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, where he interacts with the protagonist of both games, Soma Cruz, as the Japanese government agent Genya Arikado. Alucard has a love interest in Maria Renard. The interest is mutual but due to his vampirism, he deems himself cursed. But Maria accepts him this way. This is confirmed in the video game "Symphony of the Night" at the end of the game where we see Maria goes after Alucard as he exits. Richter Belmont encourages Maria to follow her heart. Also in "Castlevania Radio Nocturne", it says Alucard lives with Maria in a village. Castlevania Manga also confirms Alucard’s love with Maria. His love with Maria is in a different time line set in 18th century and with Greta the timeline is 15th century. In the Netflix series, Alucard is confirmed to be bisexual and has shown sexual interest in both men and women. When asked about Alucard's sexuality, Castlevania director Sam Deats, confirmed that Alucard is indeed bisexual[1].
Alucard is immune to holy water and holds a golden cross in hand. He is of Christian orthodox beliefs. His sword is a heirloom received from his mother's side. He has powers like his father Dracula such as turning into bats, wolf, using several swords, fairy familiar, demon familiar, dark arts and throwing fireballs. He is capable of drinking blood but doesn't like the taste of it so rather eat human food. He can walk in sunlight.
There is a striking match of storyline between this fictional Alucard and Mihnea, the real son of Vlad Dracula.
